Photographer Seung Hwan, Oh and sculptor So Yoon, Lee¡¯s Exhibition is viewed from May 29th to June 19th at Paik Hae Young Gallery.

Photographer Seung Hwan, Oh graduated from C.U.N.Y Hunter College with both Film and Photography degree. The title of his exhibition is ¡°Drift.¡± Artist comments, ¡°In the act of drifting, there are numerous amount of individualized unpredictable incidents; full of chance. For human, our conscious is stringently corresponding to chance through language and other intellectual devices. Incidents are then preserved and replayed, later transforming into pattern and destiny. This exhibition is made through strategic intensions tackling chance and playing with the probability. Needless to say, it is where anything can happen¡¦¡± While drifting and facing various stories, the spontaneous destinations are transformed into consciously composed reflection of artist¡¯s honest instinct.

Displayed at the outdoor garden are sculptors of So Yoon, Lee. She graduated from Soo-Won Graduate School studying sculpture. Little girl sculptures are self reflection of artist herself So portraying artist¡¯s childhood through widely opened eyes and playful expressions. Sculpture titled ¡°Confusion¡± represents from our struggling reality in enclosed space when ¡°Cheer up¡± has smiling faces in series of candy box delightfully amusing the viewers like a treat. We are given comfort as they try to start a conversation or give you a warm smile. And yet, underneath the surface, we also feel the pressure of growing up and heavy obligations disturbing these innocent girls. Overall, the sculptures are delineating different stages and emotions of our lives. As we compare our childhood with various emotions of the girls, unknowingly we find ourselves very alike to the sculptures. So Yoon, Lee is whispering to us ¡°Cheer up!¡± through her works. In this exhibition she is displaying 2 new works with her collection.
